Starting today, an RV, decorated in MacMurray College colors and logo will carry the college’s president across the country to meet with alumni and donors.
President Mark Tierno will spend the next eight weeks touring the country, meeting with donors and hosting about 30 alumni events.
“I’m excited to meet our alumni, hear their Mac stories and share our current plans for the school,” Tierno said. “I want to encourage them to continue their support for the school.”
Tierno suggested the tour after he was hired as the college’s 16th president last year.
Tierno will be stopping in 30 cities across the country to meet with alumni over the next eight weeks.
Along with the alumni events, Tierno said he’ll be meeting with major donors to the school.
“I’m looking forward to meeting over four dozen major donors that support the college consistently,” Tierno said.
During the trip, Tierno will be talking with alumni about the upcoming projects at MacMurray College, the school’s strategic plan and facilities plan, as well as future programming options.
“It’s an exciting time at MacMurray right now,” Tierno said. “We are poised to take a giant leap forward and our alumni are a part of that. We have alumni everywhere. We want to stay connected with our alumni. They are all Mac family. This is all about the alumni and their college.”
Rikki Langan, the director of advancement and alumni relations at MacMurray, said this is a great way for the school to keep in touch with its supporters.
“The energy and commitment of our alumni and friends are vital for the future success of the College,” Langan said. “The MacNation Tour is a fun way to build excitement and to let the world know why MacMurray College is such a special place.”
A gift given by an anonymous donor will also provide a $500 gift on the award packages of every student or prospective student that attends one of the alumni events on the tour.
Langan said the trip will help re-establish bonds with some alumni as well.
“We want to re-engage the alumni that have lost touch with the college and rally the alumni across the country,” she said.
