EUREKA — Eureka College president Jamel Wright has been awarded the 2024 Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Brown Foundation Community Development Corporation certified Wright as a distinguished recipient of the award, the college announced Friday. The presidential lifetime achievement award recognizes leaders who have dedicated more than 4,000 service hours to others.

Wright will be honored during a gala on Saturday, June 29, in Memphis, Tennessee.

"I am honored and humbled by this recognition," Wright said in a news release. "My late mother was my role model and taught me that to whom much is given, much is expected and required. As a first-generation college student the first woman and African-American to lead Eureka College, so many people gave and give their time to me, and I want to embody that habit of service for others."

Eureka College President Jamel Wright talks about some of the priorities in the college’s new strategic plan.
